What Speck keeps
- Your account: email address, username, display name, and anything you add to your profile. If you sign in with GitHub, your GitHub handle too; settings decides whether it shows. Speck never sees your password.
- What you publish: apps, prompts, prototypes, screenshots and build posts, all public by design. Drafts and unposted builds are yours alone.
- Reports you file about an app, and your email and note if you joined the waitlist. The waitlist is deleted once Speck opens to everyone.
- Usage: one event each time you publish, build, post, remix, like, follow, report or search, recorded against your account, plus error reports.
- Analytics cookie and replays, only if allowed (below): an anonymous id kept between visits, and recordings of clicks and scrolling, with anything you type hidden.
Why
Your account and what you publish are the service you signed up for. Usage events and error reports show whether the site works, which Speck has a legitimate interest in knowing. The analytics cookie and replays need your consent in the EU, the UK, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway; elsewhere they are on until you turn them off. Nothing is sold or used for advertising.
Your choice about analytics
In the countries above, nothing is recorded until you answer the banner. Everywhere else, you can say no at any time. “No thanks” means no cookie and no replays; page views and errors are still counted anonymously, and account events are still recorded. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control, Speck treats it as “No thanks”. .
Who else handles it
Speck uses a hosting provider, a database and login provider, a file storage provider, an email provider, an analytics provider, and an AI model provider that reads published prompts to write the build dialog’s questions. They process data only for Speck. Most are in the United States; data from the EU and the UK goes there under the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses. The analytics provider does not keep IP addresses.
How long
Until you delete your account. The analytics cookie lasts a year from your last visit. Usage events already sent to the analytics provider follow its retention period; write to Speck to have them deleted sooner.
Your rights
You can see, correct, export or delete your data, and object to how it is used. Settings edits your profile and deletes your account, immediately and for good. For anything else, email hello@speck.app. You can also complain to the data protection authority where you live.
